Weblogs in higher education.

Weblogs in higher education.
Blogs were introduced few decades back but they are starting to develop of late in higher education. In higher education blogs are used for dissimilar purposes such as submitting assignment and for class debates about any topic linked to the theoretical determinations or scholar’s life in general by that I could say blogs do serve as a podium of communication between educationalists and students. In Light Blogs encourage on-going interaction between bloggers in conversing critically each other’s thoughts or information. Blogs induce the love of evaluation and also the love of writing as one would have an opportunity to read and write about the topic of their interest. It promote a social and intellectual relation between bloggers. It’s a platform where one is free to voice out their understandings, opinions and feelings. The discussions that are ongoing in some topics that are academically founded are likely to influence other students in that precise focus. It helps one to be able to maintain influential and passive arguments. It Licences students to ask questions in particular content when they are facing teething troubles from their peers and also the instructors. It promotes higher level of thinking, because people can think before answering back, and they provide the chance of learning about the webpage creation, hyperlinking and other topics. It prepares students, and people in general an opportunity to share their experience and feelings.

A number of gateways have been recognised in higher education contexts to highlight certain web resources as well as to provide news and search services (Eisler, 2001). Weblogs provide educators with assortment of new strategies for using hyperlinks on the context of presentation of self. Weblogs provide a structure that recasts limited, text-based notions of plagiarism. Weblogs have primarily served as modes of personal expression, providing a vehicle of individuals to contribute time-bound commentary on internet material, react to current events, or relate personal reflections. Weblogs also provide selective revelations of individuals’ information gleaning and knowledge management routines.

I have experience blogging 2013 in the university of KwaZulu Natal Edgewood campus, with the background of a normal black new student I personally felt that blogging is for intellectuals who have time doing their research and have a lot of time doing that Job.  My understanding on blogging today is that, it easier for students to comment and share notions in each other’s academic work. It generates an atmosphere of communal interaction between people world-wide especial in academic community. It enables students to engage in research findings, and comparing ideas and opinions, as an individual you can use other social media networks to promote blogs, I have cultured that people blog for different motives as there are many web sites to bring their thoughts and visions alive. Blogging does not have to be academic only but you can post other issues such as legislation, roaming etc. while blogging has its advantages it also has its own disadvantages. Also blogging serves as platform for the technological inclined to use, as we live in different societies my view is that blogging has become a modern way of critically analyse important issues especially academic people.

Blogs can be enhanced by decreasing the data convention so that students can access the blogging platform while at home where there is no external access to the internet. And they can be also be improved by permitting students to post about the things that they like. I would also recommend students to do more exploration on how to write interesting blogs.
